Exelon, the Philly Bar Association and Montgomery McCracken Marshal Volunteers for Tree-planting Project on Arbor Day’s 135^th Anniversary

Philadelphia, PA_May 3, 2011 – In celebration of Arbor Day, volunteers from Montgomery McCracken and Exelon Corporation combined forces to support the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Green Ribbon Committee Day of Service tree-planting project.  The project benefited the Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne, PA.  The group, organized by H. Alfred Ryan, assistant general counsel of Exelon Business Services Company and Montgomery McCracken partners Tricia Sadd and Michael Hayes, cleared the ground and planted 100 deciduous trees on a parcel of Riverbend’s property that lost many of its trees to invasive vines.

Established in 1974 and located on a 30-acre natural setting, Riverbend is a nonprofit preserve that provides environmental education programs to children ranging in age from two to thirteen and living in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Trees are an important element to Riverbend’s learning environment as they prevent erosion, contribute to water and air quality, and support the habitat by attracting wildlife and providing it with food and shelter.

Tricia Sadd is co-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Green Ribbon Committee and co-chair of Montgomery McCracken’s Sustainable Business practice.  She is certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED® AP).

Michael Hayes is a past chair of the Green Ribbon Committee and co-chair of the firm’s E-Discovery practice.
