Legal, Compliance and PR Strategies Around Campus Sexual Assault Issues Webinar
May 27, 2014 - June 2, 2014
The problem of sexual assault on college campuses recently has been drawing more intense scrutiny from government officials, survivors’ advocates, student organizations, and the media. Regardless of whether your university has been caught up in this yet, one thing is for certain: the issue isn’t going away any time soon.
As colleges and universities plan for the 2014-2015 academic year, it is imperative that their policies are fully compliant with federal, state and local laws, and that they be appropriately disseminated among key campus stakeholders. Simply put, a policy is only as strong as its execution.
We invite you to take part in an important webinar that reviews the legal and communications challenges around crafting and socializing the most effective policies regarding sexual assault incidents on campus. This presentation will draw on the combined experience of Montgomery McCracken, a leader in higher education law, and MWW, a global public relations firm with deep experience in crisis communications and planning. Our two organizations take the unique view that compliance and communications are two sides of the same coin.
Topics will include:
- Auditing your policies for federal, state and local compliance
- Understanding the limits of public disclosure
- Untangling overlapping laws and guidelines
- Creating and socializing a crisis communications plan
- Developing complementary strategies for stakeholder engagement
