At a higher education forum held at Montgomery McCracken on Monday, March 25, firm attorneys John M. Myers, Donald W. Kramer, Virginia P. Sikes, Karen M. Ibach, Carmon M. Harvey and Catherine H. Gillespie, along with administrators from institutions of higher education, including Stephanie Ives, Ed.D., Temple University; Valerie Harrison, Esq., Arcadia University and George Stroud, Cabrini University; and Frank Giardini and Larry Ladd of Grant Thornton, LLP, an enterprise risk assessment firm, addressed issues of critical concern to the region’s colleges and universities.  The panelists discussed practical ways to deal with the ever-increasing problem of “helicopter parenting,” lessons learned from the Freeh Report, increased challenges to sales and real estate tax exemptions and how colleges and universities can respond, risk management practices for colleges and universities, and issues regarding Title IX compliance.
